Because I am speaking a little more often (to the college circuit (on goal setting), do you have a recommendation on buying a hands-free microphone? The ones they provide are really cheap and faulty. Last week the mic and projector both failed and I had to wing it. (I have now purchased a small projector for $1,200-it fits nicely in my brief case!)

Thanks, Traci

Great question, Traci! I consider carrying my own microphone to be essential. It's the equipment of my profession and I want the best!

I've used quite a few mics in my career, and now I use an Audio Technical U100 series mic because it’s small and bulletproof. It’s actually designed to be used with a professional video camera, but works perfectly plugged into a PA system. It will also fit nicely in your brief case!

The wireless pack uses a 9-volt battery that’s good for all day. The mic sounds EXCELLENT! The receiver pack is small, and either runs off two 9-volt batteries or powered from an AC adapter.

Plus, it has 100 switchable frequencies so that you never bump into another wireless mic – not that I have in the 60 or shows that I’ve done since buying it.

There are cheaper mics and more expensive mics, but this is the one that I think is the best for road warrior speakers. It think it cost me less than $600. www.audio-technica.com

I suggest that you call Full Compass in Middleton, Wisconsin at 800-356-5844. Bob Hatch (x1376) is my sales guy. He’s a pro and can talk you through the whole deal. And their prices are awesome! www.fullcompass.com
